Pedestrian killed by hit-run driver

The driver of a car involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Tacony on Aug. 27 remains at large as Philadelphia police try to identify him.

Investigators are looking for the operator of a black sedan, possibly a Pontiac Grand Prix. They say that the driver might not have been aware that he struck a person early on Aug. 27 at Torresdale and Devereaux avenues.

Patrol officers were called to the intersection at 2:14 a.m. in response to a report of a large fight in the street. During the melee, the black car stuck a pedestrian. The car was then driven from the scene.

The victim was identified as Omar Ingram, 32, of the 800 block of Corinthian Ave., in Fairmount. He was pronounced dead at 5:45 that morning at Aria Health-Torresdale, police said.

Police did not provide details about the cause of the altercation or other possible injuries.

The driver of the black car and witnesses are asked to call the accident investigation division at 215–685–3180 or call 911. ••
