Tacony man charged in multiple stabbings

A Tacony man has been arrested and charged with stabbing five people during a bloody rampage on Nov. 6 inside his home.

Philadelphia police say a domestic quarrel over an unspecified issue escalated into violence shortly before 1:30 that morning. Robert Nickel, 21, of the 7100 Gillespie St., was at the center of the chaos.

He allegedly wounded a 35-year-old woman in the upper chest, a 22-year-old man in the left arm, a 17-year-old girl in the head and back, an 18-year-old woman in the left shoulder and a 19-year-old man in an unspecified body part.

The 17-year-old girl was injured seriously and hospitalized in guarded condition, a police spokeswoman said. The 19-year-old man refused medical treatment. The other three victims were all treated at local hospitals and released.

Nickel was arrested Nov. 17 at Philadelphia’s Criminal Justice Center when he appeared for a hearing in an unrelated criminal case. In that case, he is charged with making terroristic threats, harassment, reckless endangerment and illegal possession of a weapon.

In the new case, he is charged with five counts of aggravated assault and related offenses.

He remains in jail in lieu of $10,000 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 7. ••
