Take a Saturday SPIN in the park

Special People In Northeast Inc.’s first Possibilities in the Park 5K will take place Saturday morning at the industrial park surrounding the agency’s campus at 10501 Drummond Road.

People are welcome to run, walk or roll to benefit SPIN’s efforts to provide direct support and educational and therapeutic services to individuals with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

In addition to the competitive 5K, guests can take part in a one-mile walk.

“All people seek ways to live life to the fullest,” said SPIN CEO Kathleen Brown McHale. “For over forty years, SPIN has been recognized as a people-first organization supporting people of all abilities to live a life of possibilities. The Possibilities in the Park 5K will help nurture each person within our facilities to develop and use their strengths in creating a life of meaning, purpose and happiness.”

The 5K run will start at 8 a.m. outside SPIN’s entrance. Walkers and rollers will begin at 8:30.

Afterward, there will be a festival that will include games, music and giveaways.

The cost for those pre-registering is $25, or $10 for children age 12 and under.
