Cop pleads guilty to sexually assaulting teen in Bucks

A former 2nd District police officer on Monday pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Trevose last year.

Anthony Dattilo, 37, pleaded guilty to aggravated indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, promoting prostitution of a minor, corruption of a minor and indecent assault in Bucks County Court in Doylestown, according to First Assistant Bucks County District Attorney Michelle Henry.

Henry said the Tacony resident faces more than four years in prison. Dattilo, who was a seven-year police veteran when he was arrested, was fired last year, according to a Philadelphia Police Department spokeswoman.

Sentencing was deferred while a mandatory sexual offender assessment is completed, Henry said in a Tuesday phone interview.

According to a May 9, 2012, Northeast Times report, Bensalem police found Dattilo in a room in the Lincoln Motel in Trevose with the victim and her 21-year-old cousin early on May 2, 2012. Police alleged Dattilo had paid the victim’s cousin for sex and was inappropriately touching the teen when officers arrived.

Bensalem police had gone to the motel to search for the girl after her family feared she had been abducted. The girl had sent text messages to relatives, telling them where she was and that she was being held against her will, police said. ••
