Police said Erika Williams, 28, was drunk and speeding westbound in her 1994 Oldsmobile on the 900 block of Anchor St. at 10:54 p.m. on July 6 when she swerved to miss a ball in the roadway and, instead, hit a 5-year-old girl. The auto then jumped a curb, hit a 2-year-old boy, the children’s 36-year-old mother and a 33-year-old woman.

Medics took the two children to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. The little girl had a severe leg injury and was listed in critical but stable condition, police said Tuesday afternoon. The 2-year-old boy was in stable condition with a dislocated pelvis.

The children’s mother was taken from St. Christopher’s to Temple University Hospital with head and leg pain and a cut on a hand. The fourth pedestrian complained of pain and was listed in stable condition at Aria Health’s Torresdale campus. Police did not release the victims’ names. Williams was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, tested by police and then charged with four counts each of aggravated assault while driving under the influence, possessing an instrument of crime, DUI, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, police said.

Williams, of the 5500 block of Hill Creek Circle, remained in custody with bail set at $40,000, according to Tasha Jamerson, the district attorney’s spokeswoman. ••
