Woman robbed at bank deposit slot

Police are trying to identify a robber who held up a woman making a night deposit at a Rhawnhurst bank on Sept. 17.

The crime occurred at Wells Fargo at 7400 Bustleton Ave. at about 7:54 p.m., police said. Surveillance video from the bank shows the 40-year-old victim approaching the night deposit slot with a bank bag, followed by a man approaching an ATM positioned next to the deposit slot. At first, the suspect appeared as if he was going to make a withdrawal, but he then grabbed the victim’s bank bag and ran to the parking lot of a nearby Sears store, where he entered a vehicle, possibly a Chrysler Sebring, driven by another person and fled the area.

The robber was described as black, 30 years old and 6 feet tall, with short hair, a black baseball cap, leather jacket and sneakers. To view the surveillance video, visit the Philadelphia Police channel on YouTube.com. Call police at 215–686-TIPS or text to PPD TIP to report information. ••
