A Flyers fan and his cohort may have felt home free after they broke into an unoccupied Bustleton home on Nov. 3 and made off with jewelry and cash. But they apparently didn’t realize that a well-placed surveillance camera had filmed their fully exposed faces, according to police.
Now, detectives hope that a tipster will identify the burglars.
The victim discovered the crime at about 1 p.m. that day after he returned to his home on the 700 block of Stelwood Drive and found that the place had been ransacked and his valuables stolen. Investigators went to the home and recovered footage from a nearby security camera.
The film showed the burglars cutting a hole in a porch screen, exiting the home, hopping over a fence and walking northbound on Ferndale Street toward Dunmore Road.
One of the crooks was wearing a bright orange pullover Flyers jacket and a white Flyers cap with the team logo on it. He also wore jeans and black footwear. He is white, about 20 years old and thin with a beard. The other burglar is a white man, about 20 years old, with black hair, a beard and wearing a dark jacket, black pants and black footwear, police said.
Police did not place a monetary value on the items taken.
