Mayfair man allegedly shoots cousin

William Damm

Philadelphia police arrested a Mayfair man on Saturday for allegedly shooting his neighbor, who also happens to be the man’s cousin and a reputed leader of an outlaw motorcycle gang.

Gunfire erupted at about 8:15 p.m. on the 3200 block of Friendship St. Officers arrived there to find a 31-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds, including a serious wound of the face. He was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale in critical condition, then transferred by helicopter to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

After speaking with witnesses at the scene, police identified William Damm, 44, as the shooter, arrested him and confiscated his gun.

According to an article published Monday by the Philadelphia Daily News, which cited unnamed police and other sources, the wounded man is Michael “Brick” Lane, who leads the Northeast Philly chapter of the Pagans Motorcycle Club. Police found the injured Lane inside Damm’s house, according to the article.

Multiple sources told the paper that Damm believed Lane was trying to break into Damm’s house prior to the shooting. Police have not commented officially on the identity of the wounded man, his possible gang affiliation or his alleged activities that night.

Damm is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and related offenses. ••
