Holmesburg man charged with rape

A Holmesburg man was arrested on rape and child sex charges on July 1, one day after police distributed a wanted flier featuring his photo.

Philadelphia police captured Albert Diprimeo, 57, on the 2000 block of E. Venango St. in Harrowgate “without incident,” according to the department’s media relations office. He was charged with forcible rape, sexual assault, gun possession, indecent assault of a child under 13 and numerous related offenses. He remains in a city prison in lieu of 10 percent of $1 million bail.

Authorities have provided few details of Diprimeo’s alleged crimes. A resident of the 7900 block of Marsden St., Diprimeo allegedly committed a sexual assault at gunpoint on June 30 on his home block. The Daily News reported, citing an anonymous police source, that Diprimeo attacked an ex-girlfriend in his home at gunpoint before the woman escaped to a neighbor’s house and called 911. The paper did not report information regarding a child victim.

Court records show that Diprimeo has a lengthy criminal history including convictions for assault, false imprisonment, reckless endangerment, making terroristic threats and drug offenses. He reportedly was on probation at the time of his new arrest. ••
