Fox Chase brothers earn ranking of Eagle Scout

Soaring Eagles: Peter Werner, 15, (left) and brother Daniel Werner, 14, earned the rank of Eagle Scout on Jan. 11 during the Troop 226 meeting in Rhawnhurst.

Boy Scouts of America Troop 226 in Rhawnhurst celebrated the promotion of two members to the rank of Eagle Scout on Sunday, Jan. 11, at Artisan Hall, 8100 Roosevelt Blvd. The new Eagle Scouts are brothers Daniel and Peter Werner of Fox Chase.

To earn their Eagle Scout distinction, the boys each conceived and directed a service project. Peter, 15, led the installation of a flagpole and surrounding garden at Holy Cross Independent Mission School in Mount Airy. The pole will fly the American flag. Daniel, 14, led the installation of a flagpole and surrounding garden at the neighboring Holy Cross Church. The pole will fly the flag of the Holy See.

Peter is a 10th-grade student at Franklin Towne Charter High School, while Daniel is in eighth grade at School Lane Charter School in Bensalem. He recently earned a partial scholarship to attend Roman Catholic High School next fall.

Peter and Daniel live the Scout Law and set good examples for their peers. They are the 90th and 91st members of Troop 226 to reach Eagle Scout. The troop is 92 years old. Three active members of the troop are Eagle Scouts, as are four troop leaders. ••
