Note to burglars: When an alarm sounds, it’s time to go.
A homeless man who allegedly broke into a Somerton pharmacy last Friday failed to follow that golden rule of criminality and, as a result, is now sheltered in a city prison.
Philadelphia police say that Samuel Geyman, 20, tripped an alarm at CVS, 10901 Bustleton Ave., at about 11:30 that night, causing patrol cops to rush to the scene. When the officers arrived at the store, which was closed for business, they spotted the back door ajar and unspecified merchandise sitting nearby, as if a burglar had moved it there.
The officers found Geyman on the second floor of the store near a freight elevator and arrested him, police said. A store manager later confirmed that Geyman is not an employee and had no permission to be there after hours.
Geyman is charged with burglary, trespassing and related offenses. He failed to post 10 percent of $1,500 bail and is imprisoned at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility pending a March 17 preliminary hearing. ••
