Suspect sought in two Cottman Avenue robberies

Surveillance photo

If you see a guy walking into a tanning salon or beauty supply shop wearing a dark hood and a long red scarf over his face, he’s probably not there to buy some skin cream.

Philadelphia police say a man fitting that description robbed two such businesses at knifepoint on Cottman Avenue on Feb. 25 and March 2. The first crime occurred at Majestic Sun, 2113 Cottman Ave. The robber entered the place at about 8:50 p.m., pointed a blade at a 20-year-old woman employee and grabbed cash from the register before fleeing.

The second crime occurred at Sally Beauty Supply, 2118 Cottman Ave., police said. A man fitting the same description showed up at about 7:33 p.m., pointed a knife at a 26-year-old woman cashier, grabbed money from register and fled.

The robber was described as white, about 20 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 175 pounds. He wore light blue jeans, a hood, white sneakers, gloves and a bright red scarf covering his face.
