Universal Creighton Charter School had a special visitor for its annual Chinese Lunar New Year celebration on Feb. 22. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Kenny Gamble and his wife Faatimah joined the children, faculty and staff at Creighton, 5401 Tabor Ave.

Creighton serves about 800 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Though public, the school is privately managed by Gamble’s Universal Companies.

On Feb. 22, the school celebrated year 4714 on the lunar calendar, otherwise known as the Year of the Monkey. Students and guest artists performed musical and dance numbers and presented a “fashion show” of traditional Chinese attire. ••
