Charity run will pay tribute to victims of Sept. 11 attacks

Appearances by Brian Dawkins and Comcast SportsNet personality Michael Barkann will highlight The Day We Remember Walk & Run at Neshaminy High School in Langhorne, Bucks County, on Oct. 1, presented by the Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation.

Entering its fourth year, the annual event pays tribute to those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. It is meant to honor the memories of those lost and to strengthen the resolve of the community to foster the basic ideals of freedom and equality.

For the past three years, the event has been held at the Philadelphia Zoo. This year, the foundation wants to bring it into another community that supports the organization throughout the year. The students and administration at Neshaminy High have enthusiastically welcomed the event. Participants are encouraged to also show their support for U.S. military, police, firefighters and first responders.

There will be a 5K run and walk. Registration fees are $20 for adults and $10 for students and children. For $50, guests can get a family photo with Dawkins, the Eagles legend and Hall of Fame nominee. The Phillie Phanatic, Swoop and Eagles cheerleaders will also entertain the crowd.

Registration tables will be set up at 7:30 a.m. The 5K run begins at 8:30. The family walk starts at 9:15. Neshaminy High is at 2001 Old Lincoln Highway in Langhorne. For more information, visit thebarkannfoundation.org. ••
