Halloween fun at Holmesburg Library
Holmesburg Library, 7810 Frankford Ave., will host a Halloween Family Fun Night on Monday, Oct. 30, from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m.
The evening, sponsored by Friends of Holmesburg Library, will include Once Upon a Toon, a storytelling and live cartoon illustration show by Joe Wos.
Kids are invited to come in costume, make Halloween- and fall-themed crafts and enjoy treats.

Fundraiser for homeless dogs
Sprinkler Fitters Union Hall, 14002 McNulty Road, will host a fundraiser for homeless and medical-need dogs on Friday, Oct. 27, from 7 to 11 p.m.
Proceeds will benefit J & Co. Dog Rescue and Providence Animal Center. The event will include food, drinks, music, raffles and a 50/50. Tickets cost $40. Halloween costumes are encouraged.

Spooktacular on Saturday
Brightwood Career Institute’s campus at 177 Franklin Mills Blvd. will host a Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday, Oct. 28, from noon to 2 p.m.
The community is invited to celebrate the season with refreshments and family-friendly activities. All attendees can enter to win giveaways such as Amazon gift cards.
The afternoon will include a costume contest, music, a scavenger hunt, campus tours and program demonstrations. ••
Designer Bag Bingo on Saturday
The parents of Step by Step dancers will hold Designer Bag Bingo on Saturday, Oct. 28, at St. Dominic’s Marian Hall, 8532 Frankford Ave. in Holmesburg.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Bingo starts at 7 p.m. The event is for people 18 or older. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Tickets include 10 rounds of bingo, along with beer, wine, soda, coffee and tea. Guests are invited to bring their own food.
Additional rounds of 50–50 and Special Bag Bingo will be played with a $5 entrance per round.
The evening will include a Halloween costume contest. There will be prizes for the funniest, scariest, most creative do it yourself, best duo and best overall.

Howl-o-ween Saturday at SPCA
The Pennsylvania SPCA, 350 E. Erie Ave., will host the family-friendly Howl-o-ween on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public, and will include animal-themed educational activities, craft making for the shelter animals, a scavenger hunt with prizes and Halloween treats and snacks.
The SPCA will waive cat adoption fees on Saturday.
Children wearing costumes are welcome, but all costumes must be removed before entering the adoption area. Dogs are welcome only if they are going to the wellness clinic or their families are looking to adopt. ••
Trunk or Treat in Tacony on Sunday
Star of Hope Baptist Church will host a Trunk or Treat on Sunday, Oct. 29, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Hope Hall parking lot, 7212–28 Keystone St. in Tacony.
Kids are invited to wear Halloween costumes.
The afternoon will include free candy, popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs, pretzels, beverages, games, face painting, balloons, pictures, giveaways and a Moonbounce with a slide. ••
Haunted house in Tacony
A free haunted house will be open on Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at 7019 Jackson St. in Tacony.
The house will have Dracula’s Coffin, the Alley of Doom and the Haunted Graveyard, among the scary surprises. ••
Trunk or Treat at Rockledge church
Holy Nativity Episcopal Church Rockledge, 205 Huntingdon Pike in Rockledge, will host a free Trunk or Treat on Sunday, Oct. 29, from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Event Sunday at St. Joachim
Court St. Francis de Sales 2617 invites the public to the 20th annual Tricky Trays on Sunday, Oct. 29, at St. Joachim Hall, 1527 Church St.
Doors open at 11:30 a.m. The first ticket will be drawn at 1 p.m.
Admission is $5, and includes a trip to the kitchen, dessert and two raffle tickets. There will be additional raffles and food available, along with a 50–50 and children’s Halloween costume contest.
Anyone who brings a canned good for a food cupboard will get a free raffle ticket.

Festival and fright night on Halloween
State Rep. Jason Dawkins (D-179th dist.) will sponsor a Harvest Resource Festival and Children’s Fright Night on Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. at Wissinoming Park, 5773–5945 Frankford Ave.
The event will be held in collaboration with state Sen. Christine Tartaglione.
Residents in the 179th Legislative District will prepare for the winter months with information on various utility assistance programs and state-related services and how to properly weatherize their homes. There will be games and candy for children.

Dog rescue holding vendor event
Wet Nose Rescue will hold a Spooktacular on Saturday, Oct. 28, from noon to 4 p.m. at SPIN Community & Fitness, 10980 Norcom Road.
