Craft show at Loudenslager on Saturday

John Primerano in concert on Sunday

John Primerano will perform a holiday-themed concert on Sunday, Dec. 10, at Tiffany Diner’s banquet room, 9010 Roosevelt Blvd.

Fundraiser for Resurrection teacher

A Broadway for Bernadette fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Resurrection School hall, 2020 Shelmire Ave., for Bernadette Galanti, a Resurrection teacher facing health issues.

Galanti has also served as a cantor at St. Bartholomew and Mater Dolorosa. Tickets for the event cost $30 and will include dinner, beer, soda, water and music. Guests are invited to bring wine. Music show at Glen Foerd on the Delaware

Glen Foerd on the Delaware will partner with Settlement Music School’s Kardon Northeast Branch and Nazareth Academy Grade School to bring a family-friendly musical performance on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the mansion, 5001 Grant Ave.

Children can enjoy holiday crafts starting at 1 p.m. and visit Santa starting at 2 p.m. The event will feature a ballet performance of The Nutcracker and a grand finale performance and carol sing-along at 5:15 p.m.

Holmesburg Civic holding holiday party

Holmesburg Civic Association invites the community to its annual holiday party on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 7:15 p.m. at Holmesburg Recreation Center, at 4500 Rhawn St. (at Ditman Street).

The evening will include an appearance by the Philadelphia Insectarium & Butterfly Pavilion and snacks and beverages from Al’s Corner Deli and Sweet Rainforest. Raffle tickets will be for sale for a chance to win gift certificates to local restaurants and shops. ••

Jr. Vogue Players to present musical

The Pelbano Recreation Center-based Jr. Vogue Players will present four productions of Fame Jr. at Thomas Holme School, 9125 Academy Road (at Willits Road). Show time is 7 p.m. on Dec. 8–9 and 15–16. Advance tickets are $8. Tickets at the door are $12 or $10 for senior citizens and kids under 12.

History network meeting to be held Dec. 6

The Northeast Philadelphia History Network will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. at Pennepack Baptist Church, 8732 Krewstown Road.

The guest speaker will be local historian Matt Jackson, who will address the Trinity Church, Oxford Parish House, which was just deemed historic.

Jackson will present a history of the church, Parish House and surrounding historical sites, and of the community’s efforts to work with Trinity Oxford, Church to preserve the Parish House building and the church. ••

Public invited to concert at KleinLife

Guitarist/vocalist Sally Mitlas will perform with the Budesa Brothers, Richard and Robert, at a Hanukkah and birthday celebration for senior citizens on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 12:30 p.m. at KleinLife, 10100 Jamison Ave.

Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. The cost is $5.

Blue Christmas service in Somerton

Immanuel Lutheran Church, 14100 Worthington Road, will host a Blue Christmas service on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m.

The service is designed to be an experience of encouragement and hope for those having a difficult Christmas season for reasons such as the loss of a loved one, transitions or personal challenges or pain.

The service will include prayers, scripture and music that acknowledges that God’s presence is for those who mourn and struggle.

Light refreshments will be served afterward.

Historical Society of Frankford to present Kitty Foyle lecture

The Historical Society of Frankford, 1507 Orthodox St., will present Kitty Foyle: The Book and the Academy Award-Winning Movie About a Girl From Frankford on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m.

Jim Young, president of the group, will deliver the presentation.

Ginger Rogers won an Oscar for her portrayal of the title character in the 1940 movie Kitty Foyle.

The movie is based on a book by Christopher Morley that chronicled Kitty Foyle as a Frankford girl in love with a man from an aristocratic Main Line family. The movie did not include her upbringing.

The lecture will be complemented by a display of related artifacts.

There is no admission, but donations are accepted and guests are welcome to bring sandwiches or desserts to share.

Jews, Judaism and rock ’n’ roll topic of event

Congregations of Shaare Shamayim, 9768 Verree Road in Bustleton, will welcome Rabbi Lance Sussman on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. for You Say You Want a Revolution, a discussion on rock ’n’ roll and the role of Jews in contemporary culture.

Upcoming activities at Frankford Library

Frankford Library, 4634 Frankford Ave., welcomes teenagers and adults to use its computers to brush up on their computer skills on the following Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.: Dec. 11 and 18.

The library also invites people to visit for help with their resumes on the following Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Dec. 7, 14 and 21.

Bereavement support group at Lambie

Lambie Funeral Home, Rowland Avenue and Rhawn Street, hosts a bereavement support group on the first Wednesday of the month. Sessions run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. There is no fee, and refreshments will be served.

Free smoking cessation classes offered

Nazareth Hospital, 2601 Holme Ave., will offer smoking and tobacco cessation classes on upcoming Wednesdays through Dec. 13.

Charity is seeking volunteers

Feast of Justice, at 3101 Tyson Ave. in Mayfair, is looking for volunteers to provide food, clothing or education and to stock shelves, receive deliveries and assist in the office. New volunteer orientations will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, at noon.

Additionally, people are welcome to take part in “Volunteerapalooza,” an open volunteer day to help prepare to give out turkey baskets for Christmas, on Sunday, Dec. 17, from 1 to 5 p.m. Donations of turkeys and gifts for children for the holidays would be appreciated at these events.
