Pascal Napoleon recently traveled to China as part of a short-term academic and cultural immersion trip offered by Widener University. While in China, Napoleon and classmates studied the economy and politics of China, learned about the differing types of Chinese martial arts, learned about Chinese calligraphy and studied and socialized with Chinese and other international students. They also learned to speak basic Mandarin phrases. The group toured famous sites, including the Great Wall of China, the Forbidden Village and Tiananmen Square, and took a weekend trip to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, which was created to imitate the natural habitat for giant pandas to encourage breeding and rearing their young.
