Showing appreciation at NE airport

Exceptional work ethic: Car dealership owner Gary Barbera and state Rep. Jared Solomon thanked employees of Northeast Philadelphia Airport for working during the government shutdown.

Car dealership owner Gary Barbera and state Rep. Jared Solomon visited Northeast Philadelphia Airport to thank Transportation Security Administration employees for working during the government shutdown. Barbera and Solomon brought food, courtesy of Chick-fil-A, in appreciation.

“It was great to get to meet the people at Northeast Philly Airport, a place I have driven past many times living in the Northeast but never honestly knew much about,” Solomon said. “Gary, myself and the folks at Chick-fil-A just really wanted to say thank you for their hard work and dedication during the shutdown, when they were not even getting paid. I also walked away with a much deeper appreciation of how the airport serves our people and businesses, and its great potential for growth to help the people of the Northeast and the wider region.”

Some 800,000 TSA workers went without paychecks during the shutdown.

“Going into work without getting paid is extremely difficult,” Barbera said. “The TSA employees at the Northeast Philly Airport know how important their jobs are to the safety of this community. That’s why we are giving back today and making sure they know how grateful we are for their dedication to this community.” ••
