Block Gives Back takes its street cleanings to Frankford

The Block Gives Back on Saturday continued its fourth annual The Block Goes Green street-cleaning effort.

The Block organizes a “4 Blocks in 4 Weeks” cleanup, which is set for each Saturday in April.

This past Saturday, the Block cleaned the 4100 block of Paul St. in Frankford.

About 25 bags of trash and debris were collected.

The day included music, drinks, pizza, snacks, football, basketball, soccer, hopscotch and a visit by two 15th Police District officers.

In all, about 50 people took part in the cleanup.

Paul Street block captain Linda Coulter bought a cake for Kevin Morales, a Block Gives Back captain who was celebrating his birthday.

This Saturday, the Block will clean the 800 block of E. Cornwall St. On April 27, a cleanup will take place on the 2800 block of N. 26th St.

Other upcoming events include homeless feedings on April 30 and June 25, Love Thy Park cleanups on May 11 and June 29 and a Father’s Day breakfast on June 15. ••
