Local church seeks clothing donations

A slightly used clothing drive will be held on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the schoolyard of St. Anselm Church. 12670 Dunks Ferry Road.

The event is being sponsored by The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. ••

Nature and history walk on Sunday

Friends of Pennypack Park will have its monthly nature and history walk on Sunday, April 28, at 1 p.m.

Walkers will meet at the bike path entrance at Winchester Avenue and Woodward Street, on the west side of Roosevelt Boulevard. The walk will be about 1¼ miles, mostly on rough paths, and will include a little-known feature of early Bustleton history.

Taco Bell to host hiring event on Thursday

Taco Bell will host a hiring party on Thursday, April 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. at 499 Franklin Mills Circle.

The public is invited to apply, take part in an interview and learn about the education and career opportunities a job at Taco Bell offers, such as tuition assistance, scholarships and career development programs.

St. Bartholomew celebrating 100th

St. Bartholomew will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a reunion on Saturday, April 27, from 7 p.m. to midnight, in the parish hall, 5600 Harbison Ave.

Admission is $40. The evening will include catered food, beer, wine, DJ, 50/50 and raffle baskets. It’s BYOB, and people must be 21 or older to attend.

Candidates at Holme Circle Civic

Holme Circle Civic Association will present Meet the Candidates on Wednesday, April 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Jerome school hall, 3031 Stamford St. (at Colfax Street).

Candidates have been invited who are running for mayor, city election commissioner, register of wills, sheriff, the 6th Councilmanic District and City Council at large. Refreshments will be served. ••

Job fair at Vogt Recreation Center

The public is invited to a job fair sponsored by state Rep. Joe Hohenstein on Friday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Vogt Recreation Center, 4131 Unruh Ave.

Business plan workshop at NE Regional 

Learn how to write a business plan and how it can help a business succeed at Northeast Regional Library, 2228 Cottman Ave., on Saturday, April 27, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The event is presented by SCORE.

Celebrate Arbor Day this Friday

Friends of Overington Park, the city Department of Parks and Recreation and the Frankford Garden Club will sponsor an Arbor Day celebration on Friday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Overington Park, 4600 Leiper St.

The day will include free education activities, tree plantings, tree-climbing demonstration and environmental education. ••

KleinLife series starts Monday

KleinLife, 10100 Jamison Ave., announced that a new learning series for active and maturing adults will begin on Monday, April 29. The public is invited to participate. Individual sessions are $12. The cost is $55 for Monday and Tuesday events. The fee for activities on either Monday or Tuesday is $45.

Musical show in Rhawnhurst

Bariatric session at Nazareth

On Friday, April 26, Nazareth Hospital will host a free bariatric information session for the community to educate patients about weight-loss surgery options and support services.

Pro-life quizzo on Friday

The Northeast Philadelphia Pro-Life Quizzo Night will take place on Friday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Katherine Parish McBride Hall, 9700 Frankford Ave.

Proceeds will benefit pro-life outreach and abortion-alternative services in the Northeast.

Swim camp at Vogt

Sing-ups are being taken for the Swim for Life Summer Camp program at Vogt Recreation Center, 6700 Cottage St.

Swim for Life is open to boys and girls ages 9 to 15 and will run from July 1 to Aug. 9, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There are two camp options: a competitive program for children who already know how to swim and an instructional program for children who do not know how to swim or need to improve their skills.

The cost of the six-week program is $250.

Free fishing day

The Huntingdon Valley – Churchville Rotary will hold its annual free fishing derby (Fish-A-Long) on Saturday, April 27, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lorimer Park, 83 Moredon Road, in Huntingdon Valley.

Families and children are welcome. Fishing instruction is provided by Trout Unlimited. Trout stocking is courtesy of Stoney Creek Anglers.

St. Hubert going to Atlantic City

St. Hubert High School will hold a trip on June 18.

A bus will depart the school, at Torresdale and Cottman avenues, at 8:45 a.m. A 50-50 and lottery basket drawing will take place.

There will be a one-hour ride on a cruise ship in Atlantic City.

Next will be a four-hour stay at Resorts Casino, with $25 back in slot cash.

The day will end with a sit-down dinner and wine at Tomasello Winery in Hammonton.
