History meeting Wednesday night
The Northeast Philadelphia History Network will meet on Wednesday, June 19, at 7 p.m. at Byberry Friends Meeting, 3001 Byberry Road.

Cash bingo at St. Bart
St. Bartholomew will hold cash bingo in its church hall, 5560 Harbison Ave., on Sunday, June 23.
Doors open at noon, and games will go from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Clothing drive on Saturday
The Marlyn Fein Chapter, Fox Chase Cancer Center, is running a clothing drive on Saturday, June 22, from 9 a.m. to noon.
The dropoff location is 604 Township Line Road, Cheltenham (near the intersection of Laurel Avenue and Church Road).
The public is asked to bring gently used clothing, accessories, books and small trinkets in bags or boxed for pickup.
Participation helps support cancer research and patient care at Fox Chase Cancer Center. ••
KOC holding golf outing
The Knights of Columbus St. Joseph the Worker Council #4215 will hold its annual golf outing on Friday, June 21, at Middletown Country Club, 420 N. Bellevue Ave., Langhorne.
It is a foursome scramble format. The cost is $125 and includes a round of golf, complimentary golf shirt and post-event gathering at The Crow’s Nest, 1492 Woodbourne Road, second floor, Levittown.
Sponsorships are available starting at $125 for hole signs.
Proceeds benefit the council’s charitable activities, like Coats for Kids program, Christmas and Easter food basket programs and seniors Thanksgiving dinner.

Bariatric session at Nazareth
On Friday, June 21, Nazareth Hospital will host a free bariatric information session for the community to educate patients about weight-loss surgery options and support services.
Participants will be able to speak with Nazareth’s bariatric surgeons.

Lawncrest planning July 4 party
The 104th Lawncrest 4th of July Celebration will feature a day of activities.
Children under 12 are invited to take part in a decorated bike contest. Kids should decorate their bikes in red, white and blue and bring them to the parking lot at Rising Sun and Devereaux avenues at 8:30 a.m.
The parade will start at 9 a.m. and travel south on Rising Sun Avenue from Longshore Avenue to Comly Street.
A Christmas in July float will be part of the parade. An American flag-raising ceremony will follow in the grove near the library.
The celebration will take place rain or shine.

House encourages senior volunteerism
The House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee passed legislation to encourage older Pennsylvanians to give back to their communities.
“Our seniors have so much to offer our commonwealth, especially in our schools, that we must create incentives to encourage them,” said Rep. Tom Murt (R-152nd dist.), chairman of the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee.
House Bill 974 would create the Senior Citizen Tax Reduction Incentive Act to allow townships, municipalities and boroughs to create programs that allow residents age 60 and older to receive property tax credit in exchange for volunteer service.
House Bill 1076 would allow school districts to establish the Senior Tax Reduction Incentive Volunteer Exchange Program to allow seniors to volunteer in school districts in exchange for property tax relief.
The committee also passed House Bill 298, sponsored by Rep. Jared Solomon (D-202nd dist.), to establish the Older Adult Mentor Volunteer Program, which would create a certified list of retired volunteers who are willing to share their life lessons, experience and hobbies with junior and high school students.
All three bills now go before the full House for consideration. ••
Local lawyer speaks on family law
Ned Hark, a partner of the law firm of Goldsmith, Hark & Hornak, 7716 Castor Ave., recently was a co-course planner and presenter for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s annual family law institute.
Hark is past chairman of the family law sections of both the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations.
