Two students at John Hancock Demonstration Middle School’s LaBrum Campus were taken into custody Friday after making threats and referencing the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, police said.

The incident caused a brief lockdown, lifted at around 10:30 a.m., at the Far Northeast school, 10800 Hawley Road, according to authorities. Dogs were called in to sweep the building.

Police said the students, whose names were not released, mentioned the 2018 shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School, which left 17 people dead.

A School District of Philadelphia spokeswoman said authorities did not find any weapons and no one was injured. The students who made the verbal threats are in 8th grade, she said.

They were taken to the Northeast Detective Division for questioning. No further information was released. ••
