SPIN supporters party at pre-Halloween fundraiser

Special People In Northeast Inc.’s costume-themed Boo & Brew 5K and After Party on Sunday raised plenty of money for SPIN, which assists children and adults with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

SPIN also provides early childhood education for children of all abilities.

In all, SPIN serves about 4,000 children and adults each year.

The 5K and 1-mile fun run were held at Neshaminy State Park, in Bensalem.

The fun continued for participants, spectators and supporters at Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company, in Croydon, for a family-friendly after party, where there was a moonbounce, face painting and food truck. People had a chance to play on the brewing company’s pool table and its air hockey, bubble hockey, table soccer and arcade games.

The overall 5K winner was Wendell Smith, who ran 21:03. The top female finisher was Lauren Materacky, who crossed the finish line in 22:07.

The costume contest was won by Molly Przybelinski, dressed as mac and cheese. She was followed in order by Halloween Man, a unicorn, the Joker and the Flintstones.

The sponsors were Aetna, Mat’s Pharmacy & Medical Supply, Philadelphia Federal Credit Union, Superior Restoration, Steamfitters Local Union 420, Alliant, Salon Norman Dee, Beer Baron and the Northeast Times. ••
