A Philadelphia police officer was arrested and is set to be fired over an incident that occurred more than two years ago at a Castor Gardens gas station.

Officer Charles Myers, 47, a 20-year veteran of the department assigned to the narcotics field unit, was charged Thursday with perjury, tampering with records and making false statements to authorities.

Myers’ charges stem from March 24, 2017, when two people were searched and arrested at a gas station at Castor and Tyson avenues, the District Attorney’s Office said.

Prosecutors say Myers’ testimony in the case led to the pair facing drug and weapons charges that were later dropped after his statements were allegedly disproven by video evidence.

Acting Police Commissioner Christine Coulter suspended Myers for 30 days with intent to dismiss.

Myers was released from custody pending future court proceedings. ••
