Crime log: Jan. 22, 2020

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Jan. 6 through 19

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were 10 robberies that resulted in four arrests. Everton Batista, 19, Pablo Martines, 24, and Everton Oliveira, 20, were arrested Jan. 8 following a robbery on the street at 7800 Castor Ave. involving a handgun, and a robbery at a mini market at 1400 Cottman Ave. two days prior. Keith Johnson, 29, was arrested Jan. 15 following a robbery with a handgun on the street at 6300 Oxford Ave. Robberies on the street happened at 6600 Frontenac St. (Jan. 6), the intersection of Lynford Street and Magee Avenue (Jan. 10), 2100 Princeton Ave. (Jan. 11) and 5700 Tabor Ave. (Jan. 16), all of which involved handguns; 6400 Castor Ave. (Jan. 6), which involved a weapon; and 6700 Akron St. (Jan. 9), which did not involve a weapon. An office building at 7900 Castor Ave. was robbed Jan. 13.

There were 15 aggravated assaults that resulted in four arrests. Assaults on the street with handguns happened at 1000 Stevens Terrace (Jan. 11), 1300 Benner St. (Jan. 11), 5400 Claridge St. (Jan. 13), 5800 Rising Sun Ave. (Jan. 16) and 6600 Castor Ave. (Jan. 18); with a knife at 1600 Cottman Ave. (Jan. 17); with another weapon at 600 Rosalie St. (Jan. 19); domestic assaults at 1200 E. Cheltenham Ave. (Jan. 12, Darnell R. Minus, 28) and 2200 Cottman Ave. (Jan. 13); and no weapon at 6900 Eastwood St. (Jan. 13). Assaults at private residences happened at 2400 Vista St. (Jan. 15), 6700 Rutland St. (Jan. 8, Mohammad Abbas, 21), 600 Benner St. (Jan. 15) and 6600 Rutland St. (Jan. 9, Zeashan Sardar, 30). A domestic assault happened at an apartment house at 500 Knorr St. on Jan. 16. Jonathan Hancock, 21, was arrested.

The only burglary occurred Jan. 13 at a private residence at 6300 Langdon St. 

There were 82 thefts, which targeted 35 businesses, 29 vehicles (including seven stolen vehicle tags), 12 street thefts, four private residences and two hospitals. Seven arrests were made.

7th Police District

There were three robberies, which took place on the street at 2100 Red Lion Road on Jan. 16 with a handgun, on the street at 10100 Verree Road on Jan. 15, and at an apartment house at 500 Lawler St. on Jan. 10 with a handgun.

There were three aggravated assaults. Antonio Friend, 26, was arrested Jan. 9 following an assault at a private residence at 1100 Tabor Place. Other assaults took place on the street at 9900 Bustleton Ave. on Jan. 6 and 13000 Bustleton Ave. on Jan. 6.

There were two burglaries, which happened at a private residence at 100 County Line Road on Jan. 12 and a retail location at 9700 Bustleton Ave. on Jan. 17.

There were 30 thefts, which targeted 17 businesses, nine vehicles (including a vehicle tag), two public schools and two street thefts. Five arrests were made.

8th Police District

The two reported robberies took place on the street at 9100 Ellie Drive on Jan. 10 and at a private residence at 8700 Glenloch St. on Jan. 10. 

There were five aggravated assaults. Christopher Harris, 39, was arrested Jan. 18 following a domestic assault at a private residence at 10700 Drumore Place. Other incidents included a domestic assault on the street at 3300 Kayford Circle and a domestic assault at a private residence at 3300 Kayford Circle, both on Jan. 9, an assault with a handgun at a private residence at 9800 Frankford Ave. (Jan. 6) and an assault with a handgun on the street at 3200 Morrell Ave. (Jan. 15).

The four reported burglaries took place at a private residence at 200 Thornwood Place (Jan. 13), a commercial garage at 8700 Frankford Ave. (Jan. 18), a restaurant at 2400 Grant Ave. (Jan. 6) and an unlisted location at 11300 Norcom Road (Jan. 10).

There were 56 thefts, which targeted 24 businesses, 21 vehicles (including two stolen car phones and a stolen vehicle tag), seven street thefts, two apartment houses, a bicycle and an unlisted location. Seven arrests were made.

15th Police District

There were 21 robberies, which resulted in five arrests. Everton Batista, 19, Pablo Martines, 24, and Everton Oliveira, 20, were arrested Jan. 8 following a robbery of a gas station at 5200 Harbison Ave., Emanuel Aguirre, 21, was arrested Jan. 11 following a robbery of a private residence at 1500 Adams Ave., and Blair Baggs, 28, was arrested Jan. 6 following a robbery of a bank at 4700 Frankford Ave. Robberies on the street involving handguns happened at 1900 John St. (Jan. 6), 1300 Pratt St. (Jan. 12), 1300 Adams Ave. (Jan. 14) and 5300 Ditman St. (Jan. 18), and robberies involving no weapons happened at the intersection of Fillmore and Thompson streets (Jan. 6), 4300 Torresdale Ave. (Jan. 10), 5200 Pennway St. (Jan. 11), 6200 Frankford Ave. (Jan. 13), 1600 Pratt St. (Jan. 16) and 6100 Frankford Ave. (Jan. 19). Robberies at businesses happened at a restaurant at 5400 Oxford Ave. (Jan. 15), retail locations at 6100 Frankford Ave. (Jan. 9) and 5200 Torresdale Ave. (Jan. 18), mini markets at 5500 Tulip St. (Jan. 19) and 3500 Cottman Ave. (Jan. 17), a gas station at 3300 Tyson Ave. (Jan. 16) and a food store at 5400 Oxford Ave. (Jan. 17). An apartment house at 4700 Griscom St. was robbed with a handgun Jan. 7.

There were 15 aggravated assaults, which resulted in six arrests. Assaults on the street with handguns happened at 4600 Cottman Ave. (Jan. 6, Veronica Jennings, 34), 6400 Tulip St. (Jan. 11), 5300 Akron St. (Jan. 13), 7000 Frankford Ave. (Jan. 15) and 6000 Tulip St. (Jan. 16); with other weapons at the intersection of Large Street and Roosevelt Boulevard (Jan. 10) and 3100 Brighton St. (Jan. 10, John Andrew, 23); and no weapons at 7900 Rowland Ave. (Jan. 8), the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Levick Street (Jan. 9) and 4600 Richmond St. (Jan. 11). Assaults at private residences happened at 4700 Penn St. (Jan. 16, Richard J. Brown, 21), 4200 Tackawanna St. (Jan. 6, Khoeun Kheang, 27), 4400 Elizabeth St. (Jan. 18, Angel Torres, 21), 3100 Brighton St. (Jan. 8, John Andrew, 23) and a child abuse incident at 1300 Foulkrod St. (Jan. 16).

There were 10 burglaries and two attempts. Donald Heitz, 31, was arrested Jan. 17 following a burglary at a private residence at 3400 Tyson Ave. Burglaries at private residences included 6100 Tackawanna St. (Jan. 12), 7700 Jackson St. (Jan. 14), 1300 Orthodox St. (Jan. 6) and two attempts at 4600 Hawthorne St. (Jan. 6) and 4700 Tackawanna Place (Jan. 17). Other burglaries took place at apartment houses at 6600 Charles St. (Jan. 8) and 4700 Leiper St. (Jan. 11), churches/synagogues at 4600 Devereaux Ave. (Jan. 6) and 5700 Jackson St. (Jan. 18), an office building at 2800 Cottman Ave. (Jan. 6) and a retail location at 2800 Tyson Ave. (Jan. 16).

There were 92 thefts, which targeted 37 vehicles (including six stolen car phones and nine stolen vehicle tags), 28 businesses, 15 street thefts (including a purse snatching), five private residences, three SEPTA properties, an apartment house, a public school, a hospital and a police station. Thirteen arrests were made.
