C.C.A. Baldi Middle School, 8801 Verree Road in Bustleton, celebrated last week after being named a “model school” in a report produced by the School District of Philadelphia.

Baldi, which has about 1,500 students, scored the best of all public and charter middle schools on the School Progress Report, earning an 80 percent total grade. Only 9 percent of district schools scored high enough to achieve “model” status.

Staff decorated the entrance for students and parents who arrived for class Monday morning to commemorate the achievement.

The report rates schools on several metrics, including academic growth, school climate, suspension rates and parent engagement.

“Baldi has always enjoyed a reputation as an excellent neighborhood school,” Principal Luke Hostetter said in a statement. “Building on that success is an incredible testament to the character and efforts of our students, teachers, staff, parents and other caregivers.” ••
