Nurses union demonstrates at Jeanes in support of frontline workers

PASNAP demonstrated outside Jeanes Hospital on April 15.

The Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals demonstrated last week outside Jeanes Hospital, taking part in a National Day of Action for those fighting on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

PASNAP members also stood outside Temple University Hospital and Einstein Medical Center to highlight the challenges they are facing. Those challenges, the union said, include basic equipment, proper staffing, physical separation from the rest of the hospital and isolation from their families and friends.

Maureen May, a registered nurse in the Neonatal ICU at Temple and president of PASNAP, said, “This crisis is taking a serious toll on the emotional and physical health of our healthcare workers faced with inadequate protection, equipment shortages and punitive hospital policies. This day of action is to support healthcare workers as they battle on the front lines today and then work to recover from the effects of the battle in the future.”

PASNAP has more than 8,500 members across the state. ••
