Justin McMullen graduated from the University of New Hampshire on May 16. He earned a degree in kinesiology: sport studies. ••

Albright College celebrated the class of 2020 with a live degree conferral, followed by a virtual cap toss, on May 17. Local graduates were Joseph Allen Love, a graduate of Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush who studied theater; Justin Robert Darmohray, a graduate of Father Judge who studied game and simulation development and earned a degree cum laude; Essence Shaunice Hall, a graduate of Freire Charter School who studied molecular psychobiology with a minor in evolutionary studies; Morgan Patricia Priadka, a graduate of MaST Community Charter School who studied History and Sociology: Anthropology; Madeline Yang Kentner, a graduate of St. Hubert who studied biology; and Allison Hailey Kephart, a graduate of Villa Joseph Marie who studied arts administration and history with a minor in theater. ••

Northampton Community College welcomed the following new and returning students to campus for the start of the spring 2020 semester: Thomas Emanoff, Ahman Jackson, Elba Mendoza, Ayanna Smith, Jenny Santos, Irina Tyutyunnikova, Johanna Pettiway, Jennifer Miller, Jessica Miller, Bintou Bamba, Tyeesha Mahan and Kameron Davis. They will be among more than 8,650 students studying over 100 majors and programs at NCC locations in Bethlehem Township, Monroe County, Southside Bethlehem and Easton. ••

Bloomsburg University honored 147 students as Scholar-Athletes at a luncheon. The student-athletes honored achieved a grade point average of 3.25 or higher over the last two semesters and/or have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher and were at least a sophomore academically. In addition to the 147 student-athletes, 45 freshmen or transfer students were honored for achieving a 3.25 GPA in their first semester on campus. Local honorees were Christopher Gleason, a Father Judge graduate and member of the men’s swimming team, and Kelley McHugh, a Little Flower graduate and member of the women’s swimming team. ••

Kutztown University conferred degrees for more than 550 students for the fall 2019 semester and winter 2020 session. The following local students were awarded degrees: Shannon Elyse Boyle (Cinema, Television and Media Production, cum laude) and Eric Petroski (General Studies). ••

Nearly 200 students from Bloomsburg University recently completed academic internships. Walter Poukish III is working toward a degree in criminal justice and completed an internship with the Philadelphia Police Department. Shalie Williams is working toward a degree in social work and completed an internship with Trio of Columbia County. Tamara Branch is working toward a dual major in criminal justice and digital forensics and completed an internship with the City of Philadelphia. ••

The following local students have been named to Moore College of Art & Design’s dean’s list: Miranda Candidi, an animation & game arts major; Stephanie Nguyen (interior design); Laura Payne (interior design); Madalyn Stokes (animation & game arts); Marissa Timinski (fashion design). To be eligible for the dean’s list, students must carry a semester GPA of 3.65 or better and take a minimum of 12 credits. ••

Kutztown University recently presented its Golden Bear Leadership Awards, including to Taylor Champ. Honorees were selected based upon criteria in the following categories: a grade point average above 3.25 and a minimum of 75 credits, leadership involvement, commitment to volunteer efforts and commitment to social action. ••

Nearly 50 Bloomsburg University students participated in the Career Intensive Boot Camp. Students learned the “soft skills” of professionalism through team building and personal branding exercises, alumni panels, employer presentations and a networking lunch and etiquette dinner. Topics included everything necessary to ensure professional success after graduation, from navigating career paths and company culture to money management and job searching. Students also had the opportunity to have their resume and cover letter reviewed and practice interviewing and professional networking. Local participants were Caroline Dietrich, a history major and member of the class of 2020, and Allison Slowik, an international business major and member of the class of 2021. ••

Kiara DeVore was recently initiated into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. DeVore was initiated at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. ••

Scholarly research by Essence Hall was presented at the 21st annual Higher Education Council of Berks County online conference. Studying biology at Albright College, Hall worked on research titled Effects of Virtual Reality and Aroma on Human Psychophysiology. ••

Dozens of Cedar Crest College students traveled to London, England recently, as part of the Carmen Twillie Ambar Sophomore Expedition, a study abroad program. Local participants were Corinne Anderson, Mia Carter, Antoinette Iannacone, Sierra Lockhart and Erin Slack. ••

Vocalist Michaella Miles is part of Kutztown University’s Rock Ensemble I, which was honored by DownBeat Magazine for Undergraduate College Outstanding Performance. ••

The following local people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines: Akshan Shah (Ithaca College), Debra Washington (Widener University), Rayven Hudley (Widener) and Christopher Hoffer (Penn State). ••

Albright College’s Joseph Love earned the Albright Improv Award. Love, a graduate of Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush, is studying theater. Essence Hall, a graduate of Freire Charter, earned the CURA Award. She is studying biology at Albright. ••
