Kenney’s hypocrisy on the Rizzo statue

The statement that Kenney has been outspoken in his criticism of the Rizzo memorial is totally false and misleading. He is an ardent supporter of anything that’s politically expedient. He supported the statue as a councilperson. He supported the changing of the name of MSB to Rizzo. He is using this event just like he used being a union man to garner votes in the mayoral election. He is like a bad odor. It keeps changing with the wind.

The good old days

I grew up in the good old days. In those days, there was very little crime and violence. No protests of any kind. Teachers and policemen were respected. You didn’t need a lot of money to have a good time or buy necessities.

A top baseball player earned $100,000. Millionaires never played sports. Movies had good acting and great plots.

People respected the flag. Most of the news you heard was good. Now, broadcasters start by saying, “Good evening,” and proceed to tell you everything that’s bad.

Like the lyrics of an old song, “Those were the days, my friend, I thought they’d never end.” How wrong I was.

Let’s set an example

The world has been very damaged recently. We’ve seen crisis after crisis. If we all show respect and love toward one another, things would be beautiful, just like our country. Doesn’t matter what race you are, where you come from, just as long as you can smile at someone, say what’s up, hello, good morning, etc. Open a door for someone, let a car go in front of you, let a pedestrian cross the street, etc. I believe in Karma, what goes around comes around. God has been good to me over the last 60 years of my life. I’m not perfect, but who is? Our children are the future. They don’t deserve to feel or see all the drama that’s been happening lately, they have done nothing wrong. We all have to set an example.

City flunked this test

I have taken many multiple guess tests, including state licensing exams, where the correct answer is on the page.

What I thought is a “gift” question doesn’t appear to be correctly answered by too many people.

Question: You live in a city where shootings, killings, lootings and civil disobedience are on the rise. You have an apologetic punk mayor and a Krazy non-prosecuting DA. What should you do with the police annual budget?

a. defund

b. keep it the same

c. increase the budget

I thought c would be the obvious correct answer.

Now you know why teachers spend so much time teaching to a test.

No more fireworks

Please tell me, Mr. Kenney, our supposed mayor. Why do you insist on allowing “idiots” to set off fireworks within city limits? Aren’t they illegal? Aren’t they dangerous? Any idea, Little Jim?

Why fireworks?

In the midst of this pandemic when we see long lines at food banks, long lines to file for unemployment and general economic distress, why would anyone choose to spend money on fireworks rather than food or rent if they were truly in need? Fireworks at best provide a few fleeting moments of enjoyment.

Stop the fireworks

In response to the “Stop the Fireworks” article written by Regina, I would have to agree that enough is enough. I remember when I was a kid and would go to the local school or park with my parents to watch professional fireworks. We would sit out on a blanket on the grass, and ate snacks at one of the food trucks while we waited to see the pretty lights in the sky. This would be a holiday tradition. Fireworks would be done on holidays such as July 4 and New Year’s Day. Now, it seems like anyone can buy these explosives. I don’t have to go out anywhere to see them. I can sit on my porch or look out my window and see these fireworks. I never had a problem with people celebrating on the holidays, but now it seems like they just don’t stop. Every single night, I am awakened by loud booming sounds that go on throughout the night. It has become a nuisance and very annoying to hear these crazy late-night sounds. I would ask for respect for those who need their sleep at night. Some of us have to be up early for work the next day. It seems like there is no respect today. No one cares anymore, and it is a shame. Neighbors should come together to work with each other and address these problems in their community. Respect needs to come back to the community, and we need to respect one another.

Boyle too liberal

In response to David Torres letter (July 1): It doesn’t take rocket science to figure out where Congressman Boyle stands in regard to the police department. All you really need to know is what the left-wing extremist media outlets like CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times or the Washington Post’s stance is and it’s virtually guaranteed that’s what Boyle’s stance will be also. That’s basically how I noticed he works with most political issues he has to decide on. So just watch or read what’s the most popular stance in mainstream media or in Hollywood, and Boyle will be quickly jumping right on their bandwagon.

Unfortunately, though, for Philadelphia’s police and our safety, Boyle’s just another Democratic puppet working for the progressives who are trying desperately to destroy and divide our country through non-stop, hateful race baiting in the hopes that by ridiculously blaming Trump for the hate and riots that the media and politicians are actually instigating and promoting themselves, he will lose in November.

So may God bless David Torres for calling “puppet” Boyle out on his deafening silence. You will definitely be getting my vote.
