Crime log: Sept. 9, 2020

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Aug. 17 through 30

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were five robberies, which took place on the street twice at 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 23), 6000 Lawndale St. (Aug. 29) and 7900 Ridgeway St. (Aug. 24). A private residence at 800 Scattergood St. was robbed Aug. 26.

There were 16 aggravated assaults. Joshua Gillespie, 19, was arrested Aug. 25 following an assault with a handgun at 900 Brill St., and Juwane Barham, 44, was arrested Aug. 20 following an assault without a weapon at 900 Granite St. Assaults on the street with handguns happened at 5600 Loretto Ave. (Aug. 18), three times at 1800 Magee Ave. (Aug. 17), 5900 Palmetto St. (Aug. 19), 6200 Frontenac St. (Aug. 21), 5700 Loretto Ave. (Aug. 28) and 5300 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 29); and assaults with other weapons took place on the street at 4800 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 19) and 6800 Bradford St. (Aug. 27). Other assaults happened at private residences at 6300 Trotter St. (Aug. 29), 7800 Dungan Road (Aug. 18), 6600 Lynford St. (Aug. 27) and 1400 Knorr St. (Aug. 19). 

There were eight burglaries, which took place at private residences at 900 Pratt St. (Aug. 18), 6000 Algon Ave. (Aug. 23), 300 Hartel Ave. (Aug. 18), 6100 Algon Ave. (Aug. 22) and 200 Howell St. (Aug. 24). Other burglaries happened at an apartment house at 6500 Large St. (Aug. 27), a retail location at 2300 Cottman Ave. (Aug. 19) and a restaurant at 7300 Oxford Ave. (Aug. 21).

There were 48 thefts, which targeted 26 businesses, 14 vehicles (including six stolen vehicle tags), three street thefts, two hotels/motels, a private residence, an apartment house and a factory/warehouse. Two arrests were made. In addition, 14 vehicles were reported stolen, and 14 were recovered.

7th Police District

A robbery took place on the street at 8500 Verree Road on Aug. 21.

An aggravated assault involving a handgun took place on the street at 8300 Summerdale Ave. on Aug. 28.

A private residence at 2300 Rhawn St. was burglarized Aug. 27.

There were 32 thefts, which targeted 19 vehicles (including one stolen vehicle tag), four businesses, four street thefts, two private residences, a bicycle, an office building and an unlisted location. Two arrests were made. In addition, two cars were stolen and one was recovered.

8th Police District

There were three robberies. Dennis Raymond, 41, was arrested Aug. 26 following the robbery of a private residence at 10900 Modena Drive involving a knife. A robbery took place on the street at the intersection of Torresdale Avenue and Ashburner Street on Aug. 19, and at a drugstore at 12300 Academy Road with a handgun on Aug. 30. 

There were eight aggravated assaults. Hakeem Joyner, 35, was arrested Aug. 24 following an assault at an apartment house at 9400 Kirkwood Road. Assaults took place on the street at 2800 Saxton Road (Aug. 26) with a handgun, at the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Holme Avenue (Aug. 21), 8200 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 21) and 8000 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 24). Others took place at apartment houses at 9600 Ashton Road (Aug. 21), 3100 Morning Glory Road (Aug. 24) and at a prison facility at 8000 State Road (Aug. 26).

A private residence at 9200 Angus Place was burglarized Aug. 27.

There were 34 thefts, which targeted 17 vehicles (including a stolen vehicle tag), 10 businesses, two private residences, two apartment houses, two street thefts and a bicycle. One arrest was made. In addition, six vehicles were stolen, and two were recovered. One arrest was made.

15th Police District

There were six robberies. Roberto Rosado, 49, was arrested Aug. 18 following the robbery of a barber shop/beauty salon at 5400 Large St. Other robberies took place on the street involving handguns at 4300 N. Delaware Ave. (Aug. 17), 5200 Large St. (Aug. 25) and 4300 Benner St. (Aug. 25), with a knife at 4700 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 30) and with no weapon at 5100 Erdrick St. (Aug. 27).

There were 34 aggravated assaults, which resulted in five arrests. Assaults on the street included domestic assaults at 4200 Richmond St. (Aug. 23), 5200 Burton St. (Aug. 23), 3200 Magee Ave. (Aug. 26, Mark Hensley, 29), 4600 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 27) and 5000 Cottage St. (Aug. 25, Jason Webster, 47); assaults with firearms at 5400 Valley St. (Aug. 23), twice at 4700 Tackawanna St. (Aug. 19), twice at 4300 Penn St. (Aug. 21), three times at 2800 Devereaux Ave. (Aug. 23), 5100 Aramingo Ave. (Aug. 24), 6300 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 25), 5200 Oxford Ave. (Aug. 30) and 6100 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 25); assaults with knives at 6200 Cardiff St. (Aug. 24), 1800 Fillmore St. (Aug. 26), 5800 Torresdale Ave. (Aug. 26), 1800 Fillmore St. (Aug. 26), 4700 Griscom St. (Aug. 29) and 4900 Frankford Ave. (Aug. 30); assaults with other weapons at 5700 Cottage St. (Aug. 23) and 1100 Bridge St. (Aug. 25); and an assault with no weapons at 7900 State Road (Aug. 22). Assaults at private residences included an incident with a knife at 2100 Fraley St. (Aug. 23), incidents with weapons at 5700 Tulip St. (Aug. 23, Jocelyn Fehr, 33), 1600 Brill St. (Aug. 30, Joshua Claupein, 25) and 1600 Wakeling St. (Aug. 30), and domestic assaults at 4800 Van Kirk St. (Aug. 23) and 4800 Tackawanna St. (Aug. 30). Other assaults took place at a retail location at 4800 Frankford Ave. with a knife (Aug. 19, Bobby Richardson, 54) and at a hospital at 4900 Frankford Ave. with a knife (Aug. 20).

There were nine burglaries, which took place at private residences at 6600 Algard St. (Aug. 28), 4900 Cottage St. (Aug. 26), 5200 Cottage St. (Aug. 19), 4100 Greeby St. (Aug. 24), 4900 Saul St. (Aug. 24) and 2800 Pratt St. (Aug. 28). Other incidents took place at an apartment house at 6600 Walker St. (Aug. 17), on the street at 1100 Orthodox St. (Aug. 19) and an unlisted location at 2200 Adams Ave. (Aug. 18).

There were 54 thefts, which targeted 18 vehicles (including nine stolen vehicle tags), 13 street thefts, 11 businesses, eight private residences, two hospitals, a bicycle and an unlisted location. Five arrests were made.
