Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 and Catholic Social Services teamed up to distribute about 50 Thanksgiving meals to families last Monday.

Meals were distributed to families who benefit from food cupboard and parenting and pregnancy programs at the Northeast Philadelphia Family Service Center. Families received turkey, vegetables, stuffing and a pie from Schenk’s Family Bakery.

The Rev. Steven P. Wetzel of FOP 5 and six Philadelphia police officers helped CSS distribute the meals at the Northeast Family Service Center at 7340 Jackson St. Wetzel, of the Chaplain of the Michael the Archangel Ministry at the FOP, said the families were grateful for the donations.

“We want to be out there to help people in the community at large,” Wetzel said.

NPFSC offers programs such as pregnancy and parenting classes at its center and over Zoom, full- and half-day programming for kids and an emergency food cupboard. They can be contacted at 215-624-5920.
