City tops 3,000 coronavirus deaths

The city, at press time, reported 110,836 confirmed coronavirus cases.

There have been a total of 3,001 deaths in the city. Of those deaths, 1,124 have been in nursing homes.

“Yesterday, Philadelphia recorded its 3,000th death from COVID-19 — that’s more than 3,000 Philadelphians lost to this terrible virus in less than a year,” said Mayor Jim Kenney. “My thoughts are with the loved ones of those who we’ve lost. Each life taken is one too many.”

Mask wearing remains required in all businesses, and the state has issued an order requiring masks while out in public.

Statewide, there are 892,344 cases in all 67 counties, with 23,072 confirmed deaths, including 12,000 in nursing homes or personal care facilities.
