Crime log: March 8, 2021

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Feb.15 through 28

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were eight robberies, which resulted in three arrests. Milton Zuniga, 49, and an unnamed 46-year-old were arrested Feb. 24 following a robbery at a chain store at 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. Darius Porter, 22, was arrested Feb. 27 following a robbery on the street at 6400 Argyle St. Other robberies on the street happened at 1800 Glendale Ave. (Feb. 22) and 6000 Castor Ave. (Feb. 24), both of which involved handguns, and at 600 Garland St. (Feb. 18), 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. (Feb. 20) and 6600 Rising Sun Ave. (Feb. 24), which did not involve weapons. A private residence at 1400 Lardner St. was robbed Feb. 22.

There were nine aggravated assaults, which resulted in four arrests. Assaults on the street happened at 200 Comly St. (Feb. 16) with a handgun, 5100 Roosevelt Blvd. (Feb. 21) and 1700 Knorr St. (Feb. 27) with other weapons, and an assault on police at 800 Anchor St. (Feb. 24, Malik Harris, 30). Domestic assaults took place at private residences at 2500 Shelmire Ave. (Feb. 15, Rami Al-Dubani, 32), 1500 Stevens St. (Feb. 28, Darryl Williams, 40) and 5900 Frontenac St. (Feb. 17, Kim Mobley, 61), and an assault with a handgun at 200 Comly St. (Feb. 16).

There were five burglaries, which happened at apartment houses at 7000 Rising Sun Ave. (Feb. 21 and 23), private residences at 1300 Passmore St. (Feb. 21) and 7700 Burholme Ave. (Feb. 15), and a state liquor store at 6800 Rising Sun Ave. (Feb. 20). 

There were 53 thefts, which targeted 27 businesses, 14 vehicles (including three stolen vehicle tags), seven street thefts, two hotels/motels, a private residence, a hospital and a parking lot/garage. Four arrests were made. In addition, 11 vehicles were reported stolen, and nine were recovered. 

7th Police District

The only reported robbery took place at a vehicle parked at 10700 Haldeman Ave. on Feb. 27.

A domestic aggravated assault took place on the street at 9300 Heil Road on Feb. 25, and an assault with no weapon took place on the street at 700 Rhawn St. on Feb. 28.

Davine Butler, 20, was arrested Feb. 18 following a burglary of a retail location at 10000 Roosevelt Blvd.

There were 28 thefts, which targeted 18 businesses and 10 vehicles (including a stolen vehicle tag). Two arrests were made. In addition, six vehicles were reported stolen, and six were recovered. Three arrests were made.

8th Police District

There were four robberies. John Furey, 44, was arrested Feb. 28 following a robbery of a private residence at 3400 Chalfont Drive. Other robberies took place on the street with handguns at 2400 Welsh Road (Feb. 17) and 9600 Ashton Road (Feb. 18), and a private residence at 8400 Torresdale Ave. was robbed Feb. 15.

There were three aggravated assaults. Jose Laracuente, 49, was arrested Feb. 18 following an assault with a knife on the street at 2800 Welsh Road. An assault with a weapon took place on the street at 9700 Roosevelt Blvd. on Feb. 26, and a domestic assault happened Feb. 15 at a private residence at 2800 Fuller St. 

There were six burglaries. Vincent Marzulli, 47, was arrested Feb. 15 following a burglary at a private residence at 9000 Cloverly Road, and John Furey, 44, was arrested Feb. 28 following an attempted burglary at a private residence at 3400 Chalfont Drive. Other burglaries happened at  a private residence at 3500 Kyle Road (Feb. 24), a bar at 9900 Frankford Ave. (Feb. 20), a commercial garage at 3200 Willits Road (Feb. 19) and an unlisted location at 9300 State Road (Feb. 17).

There were 34 thefts, which targeted 18 vehicles (including a stolen vehicle tag), nine businesses, three apartment houses, two street thefts, a bicycle and a nursing/retirement home.

15th Police District

There were 10 robberies, which took place on the street at 4600 Frankford Ave. (Feb. 16), 5900 Milnor St. (Feb. 24), 1800 E. Cheltenham Ave. (Feb. 22) and the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Whitaker Avenue (Feb. 25), all of which involved handguns, and 4900 Frankford Ave. (Feb. 17), 1300 Arrott St. (Feb. 18), 4600 Bath St. (Feb. 17) and 5000 Ditman St. (Feb. 27), none of which involved weapons. Other robberies happened at a food store at 5200 Oxford Ave. with a handgun (Feb. 16) and a mini market at 1800 Wakeling St. (Feb. 21).

There were 21 aggravated assaults, which resulted in three arrests. Assaults on the street with handguns happened at 4400 Salmon St. (Feb. 20), four times at 4900 Whitaker Ave. (Feb. 21), the intersection of Edmund Street and Cottman Avenue (Feb. 24) and 2000 Kennedy St. (Feb. 27); an assault with another weapon happened at 1500 Ruan St. (Feb. 15); domestic assaults happened at 1500 Arrott St. (Feb. 22, Jamire Mickens, 22) and 1300 Sanger St. (Feb. 21) and two assaults on police took place at 1900 Fillmore Place on Feb. 16 (Marcus Childs, 41). Incidents at private residences included domestic assaults at 4800 Leiper St. (Feb. 27), 5400 Horrocks St. (Feb. 22), 4100 Paul St. (Feb. 18), 5100 Griscom St. (Feb. 17, Andre Bailey, 40) and 2000 Fraley St. (Feb. 20); two assaults with weapons at 5200 Akron St. (Feb. 15) and 1900 Granite St. (Feb. 18); and an assault with no weapons at 1700 Scattergood St. (Feb. 27). An assault with a handgun happened at an apartment house at 1300 Arrott St. on Feb. 23.

There were six burglaries, which happened at private residences at 4200 Marple St. (Feb. 20), 4700 Shelmire Ave. (Feb. 26), 1600 Bridge St. (Feb. 22) and 4200 Passmore St. (Feb. 28). Other burglaries happened at an auto parts store at 5000 Friendship St. (Feb. 26) and a restaurant at 6200 Bustleton Ave. (Feb. 18).

There were 68 thefts, which targeted 33 vehicles (including a stolen car phone and 11 stolen vehicle tags), 17 street thefts (including a pickpocketing), 12 businesses, five private residences and an apartment house. Three arrests were made.
