Art class at KleinLife
A new eight-part art program entitled Art of Painting is being offered to active and maturing adults at KleinLife, 10100 Jamison Ave., beginning on Tuesday, March 1, at 11:30 a.m. The public is invited to join with members.
In addition to March 1, which is two hours long, the other seven classes will run for three hours beginning at 11:30 a.m. They will be held on March 8, 15, 22 and 29 and April 5, 12 and 19.

Veterans bill advances
The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 4673, the Ensuring Veterans’ Smooth Transition Act.
By automatically enrolling eligible servicemembers in VA healthcare during their transition out of the military, the act will simplify the transition process and is intended to take steps toward preventing veteran suicide.
“Today, the House took an important step to simplify the transition process and help prevent veteran suicide by passing EVEST Act,” said Rep. Brendan Boyle. “We know that the months following a transition out of the military can be very stressful and particularly risky for new veterans in terms of mental health. One of the most glaring gaps in accessing high-quality VA healthcare is the enrollment process — with EVEST, we can eliminate that gap. Veterans service organizations and stakeholders have been trying to advance automatic enrollment in VA healthcare for years. With today’s bipartisan vote, we brought that goal one step closer to reality.” ••
Zoning issues in Somerton
A home addition has been proposed for the property at 10201 Clark St. that would require a zoning variance. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Somerton Civic Association is hosting an online substitute for an in-person meeting to provide Somerton residents the chance to ask questions and make comments, to receive answers and responses from the zoning applicant, and to vote on whether to support or oppose a variance. Civic meeting on March 3
The West Torresdale/Morrell Park Civic Association is having a special meeting on Thursday, March 3, at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of Christ the King parish hall, 3252 Chesterfield Road.

Volunteer to deliver meals
Volunteers are needed to deliver meals to homebound senior citizens in Lower Bucks County.
Bucks County Area Agency on Aging’s biggest needs are in Bensalem, Trevose and Middletown. Pickups are at senior centers.
Volunteers must have their own transportation (valid driver’s license, registration and auto insurance) and be available weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon. The commitment is a minimum of one day a week for 90 minutes. Mileage reimbursement is available.

Art program at Glen Foerd
Glen Foerd, 5001 Grant Ave., is accepting applications for its 2022-2023 Artists in Residence program. The categories are visual artist, performing artist and teaching artist. Artists should be residing in the greater Philadelphia area at the time of their application. Deadline for submissions is March 15 at 11 p.m. The application fee is $10 and is non-refundable. Artists in Residence will have from June 1, 2022 until May 31, 2023, to complete their residencies. Selected artists will create works that engage Glen Foerd’s audience and collections, which includes architecture, material culture, art and natural landscapes. This opportunity offers area artists access to Glen Foerd’s historic collections, grounds and the Delaware River. Artistic projects that challenge dominant historical narratives by focusing on social issues such as environmental conservation, wealth inequality, race and industrialization are encouraged. Each selected artist (or group, if applying jointly) will receive a $3,000 stipend.
