Teresa R. Fernandes was among the student members of the University of Scranton’s chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association, which was awarded Gold Chapter Honors for attaining a distinguished level of achievement in the areas of member recruitment and engagement, community outreach and service, legislative advocacy and fundraising during the 2022-23 academic year. Fernandes is a communication sciences and disorders major. ••

More than 10,500 University of Maryland Global Campus students were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester. To be eligible for the honor, a student must complete at least six credits during the term, earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the term and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5. Local members of the dean’s list are Shamdin Albrifkani, Ahmed Alnaser and Rikka Louise Chan. ••

Kutztown University conferred degrees on more than 1,000 students for the 2023 spring semester. Local graduates were Caroline V. Harris (animated arts), Haleem Malik Hayes (master’s in school counseling), Lauren Marie Hirschman (biology/allied health, magna cum laude), Dominique M. Middleton (art education, summa cum laude), Katelyn M. Ostaszewski (sport management), Casey Jean Remolde (marketing, summa cum laude) and Phillip Roundtree (Doctor of Social Work). ••
