AARP to host workshop on car safety
The AARP has developed a 90-minute Smart DriverTEK presentation to unravel the mysteries of vehicle safety features by assisting people in understanding what these new technologies are designed to do, how they work and how to use them.
These features can include smart headlights, reverse monitoring systems, blind spot warning systems, lane departure warning systems, forward collision warning, drowsy driver alerts, assistive parking and adaptive cruise control.
The interactive workshop will take place on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, Red Lion and Knights roads.

Learn about career opportunities in military
State Reps. Tom Murt and Madeleine Dean will host an Emergency Responders and Military Opportunities Day to give high school and college students, as well as those seeking new employment options, the chance to learn more about careers in the military or as a first responder.
The event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Settlement Music School, 318 Davisville Road in Willow Grove.
All branches of the military and local emergency responders will be represented, including the Army National Guard, Air National Guard, ROTC, Civil Air Patrol, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Upper Moreland and Abington police departments, the Upper Moreland Second Alarmers and Valley Forge Military Academy and College.
Information tables will be open from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by presentations from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a question-and-answer session from 1 to 2 p.m.

Teen chat room at NE Regional Library
Shawna’s House Teen Chat Room is a teen mentoring network for boys and girls ages 13 to 18.

Healthy heart event at Nazareth Hospital

Grief support group meeting to be held on Feb. 1
Donna Glatz, widow of slain Lawncrest jeweler William Glatz, will hold Heal Your Heart From Loss on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m. at the James E. Kinney Senior Center, 165 Township Road in Richboro.
Glatz will share the story of her husband’s murder. William Glatz was shot to death in 2010 during a robbery attempt inside his jewelry store on Rising Sun Avenue.
Obina Onyiah was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Kevin Turner, who had escaped from Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility nine days earlier, died in a shootout with Glatz.
