Philadelphia police have arrested a Bucks County teenager for last month’s beating of a Father Judge student near Temple University which left the victim with critical head injuries.

The May 20 altercation occurred on the 1500 block of W. Oxford St., a block from the Temple campus, at about 3:39 a.m. Police found the 19-year-old victim in the street bleeding from his face. The Northeast Times is not identifying the Pine Valley resident by name. He was a Father Judge senior at the time.

Paramedics took the victim to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. He has since been released from the hospital into a rehabilitation facility.

Witnesses told police that the victim was walking along the street and became involved in a verbal dispute with a group of males, who surrounded him near 16th and Oxford. Riddle allegedly punched the victim in the head and knocked him unconscious. The victim struck his head and face on the pavement. The assailants fled.

Riddle remains in prison in lieu of $150,000 bail pending a June 20 preliminary hearing. He is also scheduled for a June 9 preliminary hearing in an unrelated case on fleeing police and reckless endangerment charges.

In Bucks County, Riddle pleaded guilty last month to harassment and assault in another unrelated case and was sentenced to 23 months in prison, then immediately paroled. ••
