Mike Doyle, the Democratic candidate in the 170th Legislative District, will bring members of Ferko String Band to two campaign stops later this week.
Doyle, who is challenging Republican Rep. Martin White, will visit the FOP Senior Center, 730 Byberry Road, on Thursday night.
On Saturday night, he will travel to the Ephraim Goldstein Apartments, 12003 Bustleton Ave.

Scott Wagner, the Republican candidate for governor, last week released a plan intended to improve the economy and create jobs.
Wagner’s plan would eliminate regulations on businesses and lower taxes on employers.
“As a job creator that has started businesses from the ground up, I know exactly what we need to do to make Pennsylvania more business friendly,” he said. “Harrisburg’s excessive tax and regulatory climate continues to stand in the way of our economic potential, and I’m committed to changing that. My plan will get government off the backs of business owners so they can innovate, expand and produce the economic prosperity that has eluded us for far too long.”
Jeff Bartos, Wagner’s lieutenant governor running mate, added, “With our bountiful natural resources, strategic location, world-class institutions of higher learning and hardworking women and men eager for opportunity, Pennsylvania can be the fastest-growing, most dynamic state in the nation. All we need is leadership. Gov. Meanwhile, the National Federation of Independent Business state political action committee has endorsed Wagner, a former state senator.
“Scott Wagner has built successful businesses from scratch, and he knows the obstacles other small business owners face in Pennsylvania,” said Rebecca Oyler, state legislative director. “As a former senator, he had an excellent voting record on key small business issues. Wagner has been a strong advocate of fiscal responsibility and transparency in government as well as pension and regulatory reform. As a business owner himself, he knows wasteful state spending results in higher taxes, and unnecessary regulations hamper small-business growth.”

The Republican Party of Pennsylvania is criticizing U.S. Sen. Bob Casey Jr. for failing to meet with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and announcing his opposition even before a nominee was announced.
The Senate Judiciary Committee last week began holding confirmation hearings.
GOP communications director Jason Gottesman said, “Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States has once again shown Bob Casey’s positions on matters of public importance are limited to obstruction, resistance and catering to the liberal left. By opposing Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination before it was even announced, Bob Casey has exhibited the kind of obstruction that the American people despise from their leaders. By not meeting with Judge Kavanaugh, Sen. Casey is derelict in the most basic of his duties as a United States senator.”
