A lot of children get in trouble for trying to leave school when they’re not supposed to. But a boy and girl may soon find themselves in hot water for doing just the opposite. They broke into school, police say.

Detectives are trying to identify the two youngsters who burglarized Philadelphia Academy Charter School at 11000 Roosevelt Blvd. on Oct. 9. Surveillance cameras recorded the mini-marauders inside the property that Sunday afternoon. They both appeared to be young enough for elementary school.

They crawled inside the building shortly before 2 p.m., took undisclosed items from several classrooms and exited the building. They fled on foot through the parking lot.

Both children appeared to be white in the surveillance video, although police did not specify their race. The boy has short brown hair and wore a white jacket and tan pants, police said. He carried a black bag. The girl has shoulder-length brown hair and wore a blue hoodie and black sweatpants with white lettering down the right leg. She carried a shoulder bag.
