Philadelphia police today identified a suspect in the vicious beating of a woman outside Aria-Jefferson Health’s Frankford Campus hospital on May 31.

Angela Sky Monteiro, 28, is wanted in connection with the attack that left a 29-year-old woman hospitalized in critical condition with multiple facial fractures and lacerations. Police did not disclose Monteiro’s last known address or her physical description, but they released two photos of her: a prior mug shot and an image captured by a surveillance camera near the crime scene.

The assault occurred on the 4900 block of Frankford Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. Workers from the nearby hospital told police they heard a woman screaming and went outside to investigate. As they spotted the attack in progress, they saw the attacker trying to stuff the victim into an empty trash bag. As the hospital workers approached the victim, the attacker ran northbound on the avenue. Initially, the witnesses thought the attacker was a man. Then detectives recovered surveillance video from nearby businesses and realized the suspect might be a woman.

The hospital employees brought the victim into the emergency room. She was later transferred to the trauma center at Aria’s Torresdale Campus.

Police are trying to determine the motive for the beating. Call Northeast Detectives at 215–686–3153 to report information about the case. Call 911 to report Monteiro’s immediate location. ••
