Abraham Lincoln High students awarded scholarships

Three Abraham Lincoln High School seniors recently were awarded $1,000 college scholarships from Comcast.

Mahbuba Choudhury, Malcolm Robinson-Gonzalez and Melinda Harris were given the scholarships for their work with teachers in improving Lincoln’s attendance rates as part of the Get MotivatED Challenge.

The challenge was conducted over six weeks.

Lincoln students submitted six videos that included a cheer from the school’s cheerleading squad, two pieces from ROTC groups, a group rap from by more than 20 students, a solo performance and a trio’s performance.

The challenge was conducted by Get Schooled, a non-profit organization dedicated to using media and popular culture to improve high school graduation rates as well as the numbers of students going on to college. ••
