Philadelphia police have arrested a man they believe is responsible for at least one of two armed robberies at a Wissinoming grocery store last month.
Authorities identified and captured Scott Reiner, 43, of the 7400 block of Loretto Ave., on Friday morning hours after posting surveillance video of the two hold-ups on the phillypolice.com and YouTube.com Web sites.
Both robberies occurred at the Lisa & Charlie Market, 6017 Torresdale Ave.
On June 28 at 7:10 p.m., a man entered the store, approached a female employee from behind and placed her in a chokehold with one arm while pointing a black handgun at her chest.
The employee grabbed the gun and struggled with the bandit for control of it. The suspect knocked the woman to the floor, but she held onto the gun, so he fled. He was last seen running eastbound on Higbee Street, then southbound on Vandike Street.
On June 14 at 5:15 p.m., a man entered the same store, approached the counter and demanded cash from an employee at knifepoint. The cashier handed $60 to the robber, who fled on a black bicycle.
Reiner was charged with one count each of robbery, theft, simple assault, reckless endangerment and possessing an instrument of crime in connection with the June 28 heist. He remains a suspect in the June 14 case, but has not been charged. ••
