Man burned in assault in Oxford Circle

An Oxford Circle man suffered burns covering 15 percent of his body as two burglars attacked him in his home early Saturday, police said.

Philadelphia police were called to the house on the 6300 block of Summerdale Ave. at 3:01 a.m. and were met by three victims — a 50-year-old man and women ages 32 and 48, according to a department spokeswoman.

The victims reported that they had been out for the evening and arrived home to find two unknown men inside the residence. The invaders allegedly tied up the three victims, beat the man with a metal object and burned his arms and buttocks with a hot iron.

The male victim was taken to Temple University hospital in stable condition with second-degree burns covering 15 percent of his body. His identity has not been released.

The suspects also assaulted the younger female victim, who suffered cuts and bruises to her face and left leg. She was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition, treated and released. The elder female victim reported no injuries.

Investigators have listed robbery as the suspected motive. The invaders made off with jewelry and an unknown amount of cash.

One suspect is black, in his 30s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds. He wore all black.

The other suspect is black with a dark complexion. His height is listed as 5 feet on an initial report, but that may be a typographical error, according to police. He weighs about 180 pounds and wore dark clothing.

Call Northeast Detectives at 215–686–3153 to report information about the crime. ••
