The annual Republican City Committee clambake is scheduled for Sunday at Cannstatter’s, and everyone in attendance will have the chance to participate in a presidential straw poll sponsored by the Northeast Times.
The late-summer gathering, which will run from 4 to 8 p.m., usually attracts about 1,000 people to the grounds at 9130 Academy Road.
Admission costs $100 and includes beverages, food and entertainment by the Mummers, an Elvis Presley tribute artist and a disc jockey.
The straw poll ballot will include the names of the 11 announced major candidates for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
The candidates are Gov. Rick Perry of Texas; former Govs. Buddy Roemer of Louisiana, Jon Huntsman of Utah, Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and Gary Johnson of New Mexico; former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania; former House Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia; Reps. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Ron Paul of Texas and Thad McCotter of Michigan; and businessman and political commentator Herman Cain of Georgia.
There will also be space for a write-in vote.

Bill Rubin, the Democratic candidate in the 10th Councilmanic District, opened a second campaign office last week in Fox Chase.
Rubin welcomed supporters on Aug. 18 to visit the office, at 431 Rhawn St., and treated them to hot dogs, water ice and soda.
Among those in attendance was former Phillies pitcher Larry Christenson, a friend of Rubin. Christenson was on the team when the Phillies won the 1980 World Series championship.
City Controller Alan Butkovitz stopped by, as did Dan McCaffery, a likely candidate for state attorney general next year.
The lineup of ward leaders consisted of Bill Dolbow (35th), John Sabatina (56th), Pat Parkinson (57th), Bernice Hill (63rd) and Shawn Dillon (66-A). Frank Conaway, former head of the 57th Ward, lent his support.
Rubin also has a larger office near Bennett Road and Roosevelt Boulevard.
The candidate is challenging 31-year incumbent Republican Councilman Brian O’Neill.
Both men have spent much of the summer going door-to-door in the expansive district.
The challenger is trying to play catch-up in campaign fund-raising.
