Before the rain started on Aug. 27, a robber swept into the Vist Bank on the 8000 block of Verree Road and was in the pre-Irene wind with more than 12 grand a few minutes later.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, a black man, 25 to 30 years old, entered the bank at 10:36 a.m. and presented a teller with a note demanding money.
The robber walked with the bank manager behind the teller stations and demanded money from two teller drawers and the bank vault.
He collected $12,499 and fled on foot. He was last seen heading north on Verree Road and then west on Stanwood Street.
The robber was described as 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds.
He had a dark complexion marked with either freckles or pock marks. He had large eyes.
He was wearing a black Phillies baseball cap and a dark gray buttoned-down shirt.
He looks familiar to police. They believe the same man robbed the same bank on Dec. 2.
Police ask anyone who sees this man to call 911 immediately and warn people not to approach him.
