The Tacony Community Development Corporation is accepting resumes for a newly created full-time position of commercial corridor manager.
The decision to hire an individual to help revitalize the Torresdale Avenue commercial corridor came at last month’s kickoff meeting for the Historic Tacony Revitalization Project.
The Tacony CDC, which launched the revitalization project, welcomed neighborhood residents, merchants and property owners to a meeting to begin planning a long-term revitalization of the avenue.
The new manager will work with the CDC board of directors and volunteer committees and teams to improve Torresdale and Longshore avenues.
“We are looking for someone with high energy and an entrepreneurial background,” said Peter Naccarato, board president of the Tacony CDC. “Since this effort is just beginning, we need someone who is well organized, a self starter and has a sense of humor.”
The job description is available at www.historictaconyrevitalization.com
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, references and writing sample by 5 p.m. on Nov. 15. The anticipated annual salary range is $45,000 to $65,000. The hire will be made by December.
The project aims to direct both public- and private-sector investment to create a vibrant, thriving and self-sustaining corridor that provides shops, jobs, places to socialize and cultural amenities.
In its work, the project will use the principles and practices of the Main Street Four Point Approach, which uses historic preservation as a foundation to foster the goals of neighborhood and commercial growth and vitality.
Local residents are invited to volunteers on one of the following four teams: organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring.
