Driver sought in hit-and-run

Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a bicyclist early on Nov. 21 on the 500 block of Alburger Ave. in Bustleton,

A dark mid-sized SUV, either a Ford or Chevrolet, hit the cyclist at about 4:38 a.m., but the driver did not stop and, instead, fled east on Alburger and then south on Verree Road, police said.

The victim’s pelvis and several ribs were broken when he was knocked off his bike. Police said the bicycle became stuck under the SUV and fell off near Verree Road and Bloomfield Avenue.

The vehicle might have medium to heavy front-end damage.

Police described the victim as an older man who was not from the neighborhood. He was taken to Aria Health’s Torresdale campus for treatment.

Anyone with information about the accident or who has spotted a dark SUV with front-end damage should call the Philadelphia Police Department’s accident investigation division at 215–685–3180 or 3181. ••
