Spreading the warmth this holiday season

Children in the Tacony section of the Northeast will be warm and stylish this winter thanks to Charming Shoppes Inc., which donated more than 100 new coats to the Tacony Police Athletic League Center. On Nov. 29, Officer Bill Schneider, director of Tacony PAL, distributed the coats to youngsters at his center.

Charming Shoppes is a longtime supporter of PAL in Philadelphia and has donated coats to PAL for many years through the business’ Keeping Kids Warm program. Charming Shoppes donated 4,000 coats throughout the city this year, an increase of 1,000 over 2010. Nationally, Charming Shoppes has donated 20,000 coats this year and close to 200,000 since the program began.

“This is what PAL is all about: community,” Schneider said. “This is an incredible act of generosity and Charming Shoppes has helped us kick off the holiday season the right way. In PAL, our goal is to provide opportunities to kids and to make things better for them. Charming Shoppes has helped us do that.” ••
