According to HCCA president Joe Razler, a representative from the City Planning Commission is expected to be a guest speaker, as is the recent buyer of a prominent residential property in the neighborhood.

Known locally as the “Stokes House,” the property at 2976–80 Welsh Road (near Old Axe Factory Road) is almost one acre in area and features a two-story stone house, portions of which were built in the early 19th century.

City property records show that a company named Olivia Associates bought the land in September.

Last year, the former owner, Samuel “Buzz” Stokes, proposed demolishing the house, subdividing the ground and building numerous new residences there.

Many neighbors opposed the plan, citing the historic value of the site. Stokes withdrew the proposal. ••
