Mayfair graffiti suspect wanted by police

Surveillance photos supplied by Philadelphia police of an
unknown suspect who vandalized 20 businesses on Frankford Avenue with
“etching” graffiti last summer. The story will be called “Mayfair
graffiti.”

Philadelphia police have some old business to clean up with a male who last summer made Mayfair a much dirtier place.

Northeast Detectives last week released surveillance photos of a teenager or young adult who defaced the facades of at least 20 businesses along Frankford Avenue last summer. Early on July 4, the vandal scratched or etched the initials “HX” on numerous windows and glass doors along the avenue between Wellington and Lansing streets.

According to Sgt. Dennis Rosenbaum, the vandal appears to be a male in his late teens or early 20s. He is white and had short dark brown or black hair. He wore a baggy blue T-shirt; baggy, knee-length tan or khaki shorts; and dark-colored, low-top sneakers with white soles and laces.

Video indicates he was walking along the northbound (odd numbered) side of the 7700 block of Frankford Ave. just before 3 a.m.

The targeted avenue businesses included the AT&T store at 7257, the U.S. post office at 7303, Citizens Bank at 7327, Malibu Beach Tanning at 7337, Subway at 7339, Prudential at 7341, FirsTrust Bank at 7345, Viriva CCU at 7346, a daycare facility at 7425, a chiropractor at 7439, Dunkin Donuts at 7500, One Main Financial at 7512, Lloyd Sixsmith at 7554, Dunphy Motors at 7700, Acme Window Shade at 7708, Wawa at 7715, Natural Nails at 7727, an unspecified business at 7729, World Financial Group at 7731 and a dental office at an unspecified address.

Call Northeast Detectives at 215–686–3153 or send an e-mail to [email protected] to report information about the case. ••
